I've seen this car in person. It was parked in front of Matsuoka Engineering last time I was there. It's pretty much flawless, like all Japanese Datsuns.....

What does the top number on the license plate signify? Is it year 46 (1971)?

It's the type of registration... but they've changed it to a 3 digit designation. 400 is for truck 500 for cars 300 for cars with more than 2 liters 100 for big or modified trucks 800 for heavy modifications (police cars included). K-cars have yellow licence plates with different numbers. If they run out of numbers they just move on to 401 then 402 etc, etc.

A coupe grille is also sold with chrome plating. Looks good too.
