The cracks on the inside of the doors, and the existance of that rust so far up onto the roof panel...I don't think it's good for anything except for spares. I'd like to see the lower guards, boot floor and the car floor. I expect all of these are completely rusted out. I also bet that the chassis rails are also completely rusted out..Oh man this is a toasted 1200..

Patience, and a history of flagellation!

Plus I don't know of anybody who has restored a clean 1200, let alone a monument to oxidation.

after seeing the other pic ive changed my mind. it was cool back in the day when you had it and i would love to see it restored. ive always wondered how far a car can go and still be restored. i guess its all up to $$ and seeing as this time its not my money i say go for it!!

Oh no, now you've got me thinking of restoring it, and I really dislike bodywork. Windshield is cracked too.

Chris, you have eagle eyes to spot the door cracks through the glass. I guess this means you've seen this type of cracking before?

Here are some other pictures of the car:

Hey what would be realy cool is if we could make it a '1200 club' project. we could all send you our spear parts and leftovers and you could report weekly on the progress. Maby even fund-rase. Ive got rear springs (up rated) and shocks, frount seats, windscreen. id give them all to see you restore it. as long as the chassis rails arent to rusty its do-able. i want to see how far is to far when restoring!

My drivers door had a small amount of cracking. It's from "overuse" of the flipper window. The pulling open and closing of the window pulls on what is a single thickness panel with a sharp corner, it cracks along there. quite common. You see it more rarely on the passenger side. Oh yes I could write a book on all of the faults you might find when buying a 2nd hand datto.

Maybe you should turn it into a racer. Some acid dip their bodies for less weight. Your extensive rust looks to have accomplished the same effect!!! It can't be a pleasant feeling to see your former ride in such a condition. Just believe that a new one is headed your way soon.
