another way is to cut a hole in the bottom corner of a plastic bag big enough to just get the cable through.
Insert just the end of the cable through the hole and tape the bag to the cable outer sealing it.
Then put whatever oil you like in the bag, hang it up overnight with a pan under it and in the morning all the oil will be in the pan minus what has impregnated the cable.

Hope that makes sense.

It's also a good way to make old sticky cables feel like new.
For old cables put brake-clean or degeaser in the bag first, then the next day put your oil.

If you dont want to use that stuff they gave you, a good mix is 50% - 90W Gear oil and 50% - molybdenum grease/molybond.
Stir it up good and it lasts for years.
Takes a few days to drain through the cable though.

Got it installed. Works nice.

Only problem is the speedometer reads slow. When I'm going about 60, it reads 100.

Is 100% 90W Gear oil acceptable?

I am going to install a new cable but it did not come with any lubricants

Some new cables come pre-lubricated. If not, 90W is ok, mix of 90W/Moly is good. Found out the cable pull right out of the jacket, so you can lube the cable then thread it back into the jacket.

I got my new cable in the mail today, and you are right, it is pre-lubricated. Job done.
