I'm guessing its a 2nd bonnet strap, that is required in some classes of racing.. I've seen some people using a belt for the same purpose (ie: the type that holds your pants up).

PEOPLE WHO GET CARS IN THIS POSITION IN THIS PART OF THE DIPPER USUALLY DO ONE OF TWO THINGS.(1) THEY HIT THE OUTSIDE CONCRETE WALL.(2)THEY HIT THE BANK ON THE INSIDE.WHY?CAUSE THEY LIFTED.NICE DRIFT THERE ANDREW,HOPE YOU DIDN'T LOSE TOO MUCH SPEED FOR THE ESSES.

Well I didnt hit anything although I did loose a lot of speed going into the esses. From memory I messed up on the corner before with a bit too much speed and unsettled the car mind you I was only driving on ####ty old Ggrids at the time and was snowing while waiting on the start line I still have the incar footage. Ill ahve to post it someday.
