 Re: Double-threaded Struts
Maybe the top is used for preload on the spring? so the bottom is for hight?

 Re: Double-threaded Struts
Correct. I wonder, if I were to do this would it be easier to lower the strut before pulling it out for inspection or would that be more mucking around that just jamming a bigass lever on the arm. I'm going to have a search on some coil over shocks now cos I reakon this would be preferable in some respects (mainly bump steer geomtry I'm thinking) to going S13 steering hubs and arms.

yeah i get it now, would be very handy. i've got regular height adjustables in my ute at the moment and can't go any lower coz the shocks start to bottom out

 Re: Double-threaded Struts
so you can adjust the shock height in comparison to the strut?

I think there is a third collar so you can use a tender (helper) spring to keep the main spring captive.

They are not double-threaded or whatever, that would just be silly.

EDIT: actually I don't know what the hells going on there.

 Re: Double-threaded Struts
So they have a threaded collar to ajdust spring height.
But unlike most others, there is a a second threaded collar at the bottom where it meets the strut tube.

Most are welded to the tube like this:

 Re: Double-threaded Struts
compleat tube is threded, strut screws onto threded tube.
can change ride hight without changing travel.
late model over counter adjustable strut, datsun stub/lower strut
good idea
