Good to see a bit of motosport creeping in up the top,now all you have to do is get your car club and local council to the table and organise a Sprint event through the streets.Just remind them of the Wheels on Wide Bay experiment at Maryborough...it's HUGE

This was with my pissy A12 and leaking radiator (full story can sort of be found in longest datsun trips thread :P). Event was held in the PCYC carpark.

The council wont have it though but good news for the V8 track they put in here, Decamag are in charge of organising who uses it when not booked by V8 supercar events so for the most part that can be utilised next year for a couple of events and driver training which is the push of the permanent facility that was originally for Woodstock or Bolhe

The other thing is location, down there it's more viable for NSW and se QLD to compete but up here takes commitment and financial planning as seen by People like Ian Oglvie Lindsay Stone competing in Classic Adelaide for example

It takes planning and commitment no matter where it is.It's normal for me and others to travel four to six hours plus to get to some two day events. My thoughts only but a two day event round the houses or industrial area or a bit of both at Airlie Beach(not Townsville)well organised with 12 months notice would generate 200 plus entrys a fortnight after they opened...thats about $36000.00 before sponsorship, stalls, gate etc.etc.
As for using the Super Car facility,i wish you well,my humble experiance is that no one will be interested and the cost would be horrific. The trick as i see it is to get the shiny bums at council motivated to look at a bit of research after all them and CAMS allowed you to run a motorkana and a single car sprint is only an over sized on of them at about 1000-1200mtrs.
