This is how you set backlash after changing gears

What kind of slipper do you have here DD?
Bearing blue is a good way to check the mesh too. If the mesh is good, then the lash should be okay too.
The H series diffs are a bit tricky since the shims sit behind the bearing cones. It's easy to ruin the bearings when removing them if you don't have the right tools.

i machined a set of bearings .001' oversize too set the backlash and pinion depth. technially yes i should use the bearing i intend too run in the diff but i figured its more reliable than running a potentially damaged bearing from pulling them on and off several times.

also looks like the bearing journals have been machined down too fit the original H165 bearings.

this is what pitroad were doing? there abit thin. one of the rally guys had a picture where this modification had failed and turned the journal off the lsd housing.

Wow I see what you mean! A guy here in NZ welded the dasun axle tubes to a trd centered toyota center housing. He was selling it for sh1tloads, but it gets around this issue.

I'm not following? Slipper? Bearing journals?

H190 had three types of bearing/side gears, maybe H165 likewise had variations.
