I dident mean because its a single plane manifold just the large volume of the plenum would kill throtle responce.

Yes, I would think so. Throttle "response" means tractability, how it responds when transitioning from idle to part throttle, and from low airflow to high airflow

I would guess that the big plenum and big runners help with high-airflow situations, for example full-throttle at higher RPMs

Quote:
Corollas runs them from factory in the K engines
* This design: 4 runners off the plenum
* factory A12/A14 design: 2 runners off the plenum

The factory Corolla manifolds use a small plenum volume and use a hot-spot (heated manifold). Which this manifold doesn't have ... hotspot helps tremendously with part-throttle response

You might be right. Single plane manifolds are good for high-RPM, not so good for wide torque band.

 Re: oval port manifold
these manifolds are not as bad as people think
Corollas runs them from factory in the K engines
and Fiat also for many years in same capacities
as in our beloved A and are wonderful.
You just have to look at the economy and performance
of the fiat engines and realize that the design
does help performance but also torque.
Chryslers version for the slant 6 is used still this day
in John Deere tractors and is the same as the pic but with
6 runners.

Looks like it to me too.
Who makes this manifold?
