DIY Angel eyes. levey 2010/7/28 9:39 Tell a friend 3817 9 0.00 (0 votes)
This is a work in progress, knocked it up out of some perspex and two LEDs. Working on a more even light and brightness aswell. |

Re: DIY Angel eyes. Here is the link that gave me the inspiration, I was not happy with the look of the cuts around the rim though so I did some testing with perspex. Still woking on the brightness (nearly there) and my photography! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JSMQk61xQ8&feature=related

Re: DIY Angel eyes. Thanks Greendog, You can choose from a wide variety of LED colours I chose clear but the perspex tints it blue.

Re: DIY Angel eyes. Basically flat perspex cut into a 7mm strip, cut edges facing outwards & sanded smooth (up to 1200 grit then polished) and two LEDs. I put the cut sections of perspex into a Datsun headlight rim/lense holder and baked it in the oven @ 140 degreees for about 9 minutes to retain the round shape. Oh and its clear perspex.

Re: DIY Angel eyes. Nice work. What are the basics behind it? ie. is it a piece of flat perspex rolled up then with two leds pointing into it? Is it clear or frosted perspex and did you paint or coat the sides that you didn't want light to shine out of?
