just bought some photos taken at the QHC a few months ago, and just had to post this one!

at the top of the hill just out of this shot, the downhill run starts as a sharp drop in the road called 'lover's leap' and it's in the middle of the corner! The car gets really light over that section and most people button off a little over it, and now I know why...this is what can happen if you take it at full throttle. And if you still hold it flat it stays like this until the braking area at the bottom of the hill... hehe

it was my 2nd fastest time of day too!

converted,
the paint job is inspired by the American BRE 1600's and Z cars that were raced in SCCA in the 70's. there are a number of differences here and there, but that's obviously what I copied and adapted to my 1200. So, as I copied it anyway I can't really object to you doing the same, can I! I only recently learnt there was a BRE 1200 coupe too, when it's current owner posted a couple of pics in the club Album - have a bit of a dig around for them...

I just had the paperwork done for an IPRA logbook on my coupe on the weekend, but the chances of us being on the track together are pretty slim I guess as you're in Victoria (I think?) Maybe the odd nationals event, if either of us ever enter them.
Apart from Steve, I was the first to get the flares etc, obviously alot of people will end up with them, but the paintjob is the thing that I think really sets my car apart... Personally, I'd prefer if you didn't copy it directly as I like the individuality, and the car has built up a bit of a reputation locally for this kind of thing, with mentions in Sports Car and Racer magazine, some of the weekly motorsport papers, and whatever. But like I said, I copied it anyway...

BRE also had an 'alternate' colour scheme. They ran 2 car teams, one like this and one which was blue top with red side stripes. I actually prefer that scheme (especially on the Z cars!), but my car was already red...

You should be able to find some more pics of real BRE cars on the 'net too for more ideas, or what they 'should' look like. Try some of the american 1600 sites for starters.

This site has several examples. On the lower left side is Desktop Photos. There is a picture of the #46 red top and #85 blue top 510's.

Always thought about doing my 1600 in the "blue #85" scheme...

Hey, that's the FJ510 that sold for $20K to Adam Carolla. The previous owner paid Les at Classic Datsun Motorsports to do all the work.

BTW, #85 was recently restored for ~$100K.

B110,

Everytime I see pictures of your car the thing is sideways! Does it have a wheel alignment problem are you just showing off!

The car looks awesome man.... One of the best presented cars on the track.

looks like someones tried to show you the racing line with cement dust.hope they got it off the track quickly.friend of mines favourite trick was to be on full opposite lock at this point & keep it there pretty much all the way to the nut corner at the bottom.this was in an open wheeler, too.
