Re: Drag radial on 1200 sedan This is drag racing we're talking about. At the street drags back in the eigthies, I used to run 245/515x13 slicks on 13x8 rims, on a 1200 sedan. they stuck out so much we didn't have to put the water for the burnout under the tyre, we just poured it over the top. Maybe they're a little more professional now, but maybe they aren't. The tyres I used were old sports sedan tyres retreaded as a slick with soft truck compound. They certainly hooked up. Got some good smoke with popping the clutch at 5000 rpm in 2nd gear, too.

Re: Drag radial on 1200 sedan scruiteneers wouldnt normally let you run if your rubber is sticking out past your bodywork well at least not over here in vic...
those big buggers would certainly make a difference though.. what times are you chasing? whats your previous best?

Re: Drag radial on 1200 sedan If I take out the lowering blocks, and massage the front of the wheel arch, I should be able to run these at the drags this sunday. The top lip of my guard is a distant memory as you can see. The tyres are M&H 235/60/14 drag radials on 14X8 rims. I'm hoping that these combined with the god-awful 4.4:1 locked diff should help me give my PB a nudge.

Re: Drag radial on 1200 sedan Those are huge! I'm running Falken RT-615K 195/60/14 and they fit nicely. They are a soft drifting tire. I could not find a drag tire in that size.

Re: Drag radial on 1200 sedan I ran tyres that stuck out even further than that before. I don't think it matters too much tbh. Lots of guys run pretty wide rubber. The open wheel comp cars/hot rods run no guards at all. I wouldn't run them on the street, I'm going to fit them at the track. They're right on the limit of what will fit the car as you can see. My previous PB was 14.1 secs. The track is going to be heavily prepped, and there's some big cars running. So fingers crossed I'll be able to really unleash it out of the hole without just frying the bags like normal. (or breaking anything!)
EDIT, I removed the blocks, and did another test fit yesterday. They're going to work beautifully

Re: Drag radial on 1200 sedan These worked a treat. I was able to equal my PB and shave a couple of tenths of my 60ft. And break an axle too. lol
