Re: Quad throttle manifold 9 I like it although I don't think you'll see any results below 3500rpm. It would work well with a turbo or SC

Re: Quad throttle manifold 9 Should've checked notify on the comments, didn't notice sorry. Questions from the top:
Unfamilia: No bonnet scoop, if you extended the pipe out the other side of the throttle bodies they would just clear the rocker cover. I plan to build an airbox to fit on the manifold side of the rocker cover. More pics when I've cleared my plate a bit and get back to it.
Shoota_77: Can I make you one? Expect to wait a long time, supplied with premade flanges and the bends it wouldn't take long. Chris supplied the head side flange, the other one I made by hand with a drill press and some 6mm flat. Took about 10-15mins to cut each hole with lots of rp7 and a HSS hole saw as my drill press is only 200W.
DDgonzal: Agreed, will definately fit. Thought about going higher and over the rockers to the other side of the bay (which would also fit) but as it is the centreline distance entrance to port will be roughly 600mm, should get the second harmonic at roughly 5500-6500 rpm provided my plennum is big enough, smaller flattens the VE peak and moves it down the rpm band. Bigger plennum means larger narrower peak.
Reuby_Tuesday: Mandrel bends 2-1/2’’ radius 1-1/2 O/D tube length 4’’ from centre of radius $19.10 from Daaldler in Preston You can get them marginally cheaper but they are close and I picked up a few offcuts at the same time for nothing (I asked nicely) when I was thinking about extending the runners. I think I paid about 100 for the throttle bodies with an air box and all 8 injectors, fuel rails etc. CBR1000RR 45mm butterflies, 80-81-80 centres.
ssskiwi: this can be compensated for by appropriate tuning of X-tal type enrichment/ leaning. The other method is to build in modelling of fuel pooling. A control expert at Melbourne Uni did this with regularisation networks (works kind of like figuring out what worked and remembering it). The simplest way is just to increase acceleration enrichment and let it go rich for a bit on deccel.
Sikyne: Sequential would be ideal, megasquirt 3 would be able to cover sequential staged injection for all 8 injectors but is another few hundred bucks upgrading what I've got. I figure I'll give it a go with batch and megasquirt 2 (which I already own) and if it's not good enough upgrade. Give me more time to save the cash and only spend it if I need to. Batch will probably be alright, might just produce a few extra emissions during transients. Still got to be better than the carb that's on it!
D: Plennum. I'll build a box, mount the 2nd row of injectors and plumb the box to behind the grill for nice cool air. The box will probably take as long or longer to build than the manifold, I knocked that off in a few hours after all the thinking was done.
Long post but I think that covers it.

Re: Quad throttle manifold 9 I would be concerned with the fuel falling out of suspension due to the 180 degree change in direction, wouldn't the injectors be better off firing into the ports/back of valve area? All OEM's using long runner intakes still fire the valve at the back of the valve for this reason (actually emmissions but puddling fuel causes bad emmissions).

Re: Quad throttle manifold 9 thats looking pretty good.
how expensive were the mandrel bends to buy?
Ive been considering something like this myself.

Re: Quad throttle manifold 9 This will work well! Plenty of length and good TB sizing.
The fuel dropping out of suspension wont be a prob, maybe a little at idle. but certainly no worse than a carb at idle.
Are you you going to set it up as sequential or batch fire?
