This is just and indicator of the 3speed vs the 4 speed with the stumpy rear section as standard.
Seems the rear housing and internals interchange using past stumpy box onto later 4 speeds.

Yes, that is 4-speed Automatic versus 3-speed automatic. See L4N automatic

By the way, the B110/B210 3-speed automatic is a different length than the B310 3-speed automatic.
