Datsun A-series engines feature pistons made of Low-Expanding aluminum alloy, as in this Alcoa advertisement. Almost as good as hyper-eutectic alloys, Lo-Ex allows tighter bore clearance to reduce piston slap and increase power -- and it also lowers emissions! The pistons are tougher too so they don't scuff.

Although Lo-Ex alloy is not new, even after the A-series debuted certain other manufacturers were using cheaper "plain" aluminum alloy for their pistons. The A-series is one tough engine!

The ad also mentions T-slot. B10 pistons are T-slot.
