 Re: A15TT exhaust gasket
well theres the exhaust gasket that came out, as you can see it just wasn't up to the job, its been anihalated in three places, effectively meaning all four exhaust were leaking!!!!

wont get a new gasket to mid next week as they are hard to get a hold of at the moment, but should be a very good quality one

i also found that the adaptor plate for the 32/36 was only held on the manifold by about two threads on one of the four bolts that are supposed to be on it, when i took the airbox off the carb practically fell off the manifold!!

so there was definately a huge in the inlet leak aswell, i will loctite and gasket cement that puppy down next time!!!

so....... imagine if it flew with those probs, how will it go after they are fixed!!!!

It looks as though the intake flange may be thicker than the exhaust flange causing a decrease in clamping pressure on the exhaust. I only say this as it is a common problem when fitting extractors on a shared manifold clamping system.

go get some 600 x 600 x 1.0mm copper sheet from Bunnings and make your own gasket.

paper + turbo engines = no good.

that damp look around the inlets may be fuel that has been leaking under boost

My gasket (Tomei) has metal rings embossed into it around the exhaust ports. I think it was around $12-$15 and I could ship you one if you want. PM me if interested and I'll get you the exact price.

Just found a pic:

Looks like this is a different bolt configuration.

 Re: A15TT exhaust gasket
im getting an original nissan item to replace, will see how it goes, if that doesnt work then these ones with metal rings sound good

that picture of a gasket has thrown a spanner in the works as i was pretty convinced that round port heads used that stud configuration and oval port used the configuration seen in mine
