Re: 120Y GX i seem to remember having a red air cleaner on a gx motor i had in a 1200 coupe,but it was a 120y style gx motor.so,maybe,maybe not.
now the real question.is this car still around & does it's present owner know what it is & appreciate it?cause it deserves a good home,in my opinion.

Re: 120Y GX The young woman who owned it was a nurse & it was her shopping trolley. I looked after this one in the mid to later 80's & i have never seen it since she moved to ? in about '88 or so.
The kids are hers & to them it was just a car, nothing more. My local Datsun dealer put her in touch with me because they didn't have info on the GX model & figured that since i ran one, i could service it. They knew that i used only genuine Dartsun parts wherever possible, so it was a win- win situation.

Re: 120Y GX It seems that 1200GX air cleaners are red, 120Y GX ones are blue, & L series SSS ones are orange.
Can anyone confirm this, &/or add any more info.

By "inside lamps" i presome that you mean the smaller driving lights in the grille.
Since nothing else was messed with, i have always assumed that they were original on this model. [GX]

L Series 4cyl were blue except for early 180b/610 & 160J/710 which were orange
L Series 6cyl were orange (but I have seen some blue ones ... repainted?)
Interesting that certain years of 120Y front fender/sidemarker look similar to Excellent.
