This was the shop ute for D&G motors, the Datsun dealer in Blacktown, near Sydney.
A ute's gotta earn it's keep.

With a June '73 build date, it's a real 1200. I ran the 1200GX & 5 speed in it for about a year later on. It went well, but in the 1000 it was more fun.

I bought the ute in about '81 & sold it in about '89 or '90 i think. The photo was taken in June 1982.
I told you i was old.

I had fitted the whole disc brake setup from a coupe, including a new pair of the correct "disc brake model" rear wheel cylinders.
I called the ute "Sam Hill", ... last of the rough riders. [& it was]

It must have had air shocks? It looks like a heavy load.

No air shocks, & the load was bulky, but not particularly heavy. It's a wooden telphone cabinet, circa mid 1930's. This one was installed in 1940 when the store was rebuilt after the 1939 bushfire.
