With the rim offset that much, scrub radius would be horrendous unless you were running negative offset FWD rims.

How thick are those spacers, what do they cost and where can you get them?

I am planning on running some late model wheels on the race car, but I need about a 20mm spacer.

Errol, do you mean late model wheels with positive offset?

In my example, I have 14x7's (offset -3), I am going to a 15x7 (offset +17) so I need a 20mm spacer to put the tyre back where it is now.

From what I understand, if it's a negative offest, you get the "deep dish" effect, positive offset is the opposite (how most FWD cars are set up)

The way I understand it is -
Positive offset is away from the hub flange towards the out side of the vehicle. Negative offset is back toward the hub.

Wheels with a +15 offset give a wider track than +5 offset.

Errol - I agree about the firts part of what you said - Positive offset puts the flange face further toward the outside of the wheel. This being the case - assuming the width of the wheel is the same - then more of the wheel must hang inboard on the car.

As I understand it, a "deep dish" wheel,which has a negative offset (flange towards the inside of the rim) would then give a wider track, as more of the rim is "hanging" out, away from the hub.

for example, on my car (Datsun Sunny with H190 diff), the diff is much wider than the standard diff. We have added flares which cover the wheels, however I want to go from 7" - 8" rims, but I want the extra inch back towards the inside of the car. To achieve this, we theoretically move the mounting flange in the rim further towards the outside of the rim (positive offset), meaning more of the wheel is hanging inside the car.

I hope that makes sense.

So as long as the spacers keep the offset reasonable (or if they 'correct' wheels with too much positive offset), they won't cause any handling/wear problems.
