Here is me...an overweight Mika Hakkinen look-a-like with my coupe just after a warm up session and a change of oil to fully synthetic.

Mika never weighed close to 135 kilos did he? If driver weight is an issue in a F1 car with 800 hp then you may need to consider the impact eating lots of custard has on a paltry A series. Just trying to help... and see you go faster than an HQ.

Hi Converted,
If that pic is taken at Wakefield I had a great day that day just walking around meeting everyone and checking out all the coupes.
Can you tell me what convinced you to move to fully synthetic oil ??

Cheers.

Well at least you went to the best synthetic available off the shelf. I have herd good things about Mobil 1 from some very smart tuners.
I'm not sure what they would be like in the older technology cars and I'm still not convinced but I'm a bit of a hard head and slow to change I guess.
I would be interested to hear Feral's opinion on synthetics when compared to minerals and their use in A series race engines.

Personally I use Penrite HPR15. Although i have never had the used oil analyzed. It seems to hold its colour and viscosity even after a thrashing on the track. I do change it fairly regularly though.
I guess proof would be in the wear marks or lack of, on the moving parts in the engine upon engine pull down.

Spec sheet for Penrite HPR-15

Im sure there are good news on the mobil 1 product, but I cant justify the expense at this stage, Although Oil selection is an important consideration when building performance engines, and engine protection. Quality oil used = increased chance of longer engine life.

Hmmmm interseting - I use the same stuff Benny. I agree it tends to hold up pretty well under race/rally conditions. I change it after every rally, also do gearbox and diff after every event. All are mineral based oils in my coupe but I have herd pretty good things about Mobil 1.

If memory serves me correct, there is a member on this site who works for " Penrite" involved in Tech / Product Support. Im sure they could give us the "good oil " so to speak on any technical questions specific to the Penrite product as well as Engine oils in general.

Can anyone remember who they are ??????

Answered my own question. Search option really does work....... " Blake " is the member who does tech support for Penrite.

see thread "What kind of oil do you use"
