may be of interest to some. The 15" Performance Superlite just got a whole lot sexier! Old style on left, compared to the new style

The old Superlite 15s were a bit ugly, these look more like the Panasports. Very nice indeed, thanks for sharing. Maybe I should give Performance a call, before I decide on Simmons..

Anyone know if Performance do Superlites in 2 or 3 piece?

Cheers

I was going to chuck a set on my ute on Sat..... I remembered I dont have the old 1200 stud pattern anymore. I have a cool 13inch set. Wouldve made my ute low. Cant use em anymore so I may as well sell em.... Any takers? Cool little rims...

O my god! Those new style superlites are things dreams are made of. They are such an improvement over the old style and yes they do look more like the panasports. I always liked the panasport style over the super/minilite style.

With bigger more spaced out spokes they look similar to Watanabe's now. Very nice.

Chris,
they're only availabel as a 1 pce cast wheel. Offsets may be limited too, but these 15*8s on the green car on the right would fit under my flares - although i couldn't convince John to swap rubber (220mm slicks) for a run

Defintaley a big improvement in looks. Smaller centre section with bigger spokes - they definately look like the Panasports now.

I wonder if the weight has changed, that was the only thing I didn't like about the performance wheels, plus the offsets weren't right for what I wanted to do....... nice looking wheel though!

Performance wheels are normally around the $200 per rim mark...... Their pricing is one of the big advantages they have - relatively inexpensive.

Panasports on the other hand are more expensive, but lighter, and available in a huge range of offsets. Horses for courses.

Re: New style for 15" Superlite wheels
Ive owned many superlites, panasports and watanabes but I have to tell you that these old ones youve pictured are the 15 superlites and up size which carry the extra spokes making them ugly. The 14s never suffered from this but the new ones have little pointier edges at the end of the spokes making them look like the other sexier and lighter brands. They apparantely eliminated the extra spokes on the 15 and up sizes because people complained of how ugly they were and also how you couldnt run 14 and 15 rears as they had 2 xtra spokes on the 15 and up which made rods look unbalanced and so did my beach buggy.
The marketting and designers must have finally noticed that larger sizes where getting popular and no one bought the 15 and up ranges for some reason. Why they added the extra spokes on those early 15 and 16s is beyond us datto lovers with great taste

D, the old style with the stupid looking large centre allowed them to fit weird things like VW and Subaru stud patterns.

I think we owe the new design to the popularity of Historic Touring Car racing (Nc particularly). Alot of the Monaros, Camaros, Mustangs, Falcons etc are using Performance 15*8" wheels. Some dedicated enthusiast even went to the trouble (and expense!) of having some genuine 15*8 Minilites cast in a bulk order from the UK for competitors in the series!

Re: New style for 15" Superlite wheels
When I bought my 14 new and considered the 15s I was the only one to notice the big centre and extra spokes of the 15.
The salesman couldnt tell the difference.
Ive always stayed away from 15s for that reason.
As for casting and importing ones from england haleluyah big bikkies!!! why didnt they just buy watanabes or pansports???

because they used the Minilites back in the 60's and 70's on alot of touring cars here and they wanted the genuine article.
