 Re: 1000 Coupe
Mine all have rear bumpers
However the white coupe will get a fibreglass sedan one not the full wrap around as I need alittle more room for the 3" flares to fit.
I contemplated going for a modern plastic full bumper front and bacl......but that wouldn't suit it so it will just get the big plares, wing and front dam/splitter.

Orange coupe.....well no idea yet.......too far away to think about that one.

Sorry DD how could I miss the most important member of the pimp lovers???
The coupe sedan (warthog!!! what a crack up! thats a very twisted but severely correct analogy?)
Hey well what can you call the 1k that solely represented the 1k for racing?
The 1k coupe sedan which although looks like a miniture 510 was introduced way before a 510. But if I could, Id have the coupe, coupe sedan and wagon however no wife to look after me.
Ah this wine is nice its a chilean red very clean chocolate overtones with a subtle hint of currants and plums.
Sorry Im drinking more than my 1k at the moment
Lets put it this way theres a datto for all of us and more!!

As for the bumper on the rear of the coupe Ive made replica Ac cobra nudgebars, overiders or whatever you want to call them and they look smick If i say so myself just ask youngblood "RC" he liked them so did his bro whos on the dark side driving an escort. There are two styles that can be adapted. But another thing that personally signaturises those non original early mustang tailights is cutting the centre rib off it so the red stop lights look larger. It really looks nice and less mustang.
Another thing is if you have troubles finding good lenses and assembly for the tailights is to fill it all up and use early nissan patrol front indicator or mini cooper type indicators as they look retro and simple. Flared guards also do this car alot justice for 14 inch clad with 195/50 series toyos.

It's a really nice car, but it's in desperate need of a rear bumper to break up that rear panel. Since the bumper mounting points have not been filled in, i will assume that the bumper is in the chrome platers shop.

As for styling, often copied, but never bettered. Go the KB10

The phrase 'clean uncluttered lines' springs to mind.

best thing you can do to a thousand is take those big, awkward looking bumpers off them. Then those clean lines are revealed.

Just like my old thousand coupe

Yeah I like how the 1ks look, but hey, they just dont spin my tyres like the 1200.

Had a look at the coupe Harry and I think that your one looks better that this one.....

And the best thing, they are all Datsun's

 Re: 1000 Coupe
unless youve owned the two like Harry its hard to appreciate the simplistic angular and compact design of the 1k. Apart from the tail lights its an original design that flows with its cousin the 1965 sylvia coupe.

1k vs 1200 Its like comparing apples and oranges.

The 1200 is detailed and curvacious and the 1k is anti radar stealth plane like.

Those with an eclectic minimalist conservative taste will always take the 1k. As where the 1200 is a flashier mainstream and therefore has a broader audience in appeal.

Also to mod a 1k takes alot of thinking as where the 1200 there are many things available from heavier brothers.

2 different horses for different but datsun loving causes.

The funny thing is its hard to find a fully detailed and balanced 1k because of their 2 year life span and therefore lack of versions so to moddify one and keep it balanced and tasteful is much more of a challenge than the already fully evolved 1200.

But "self wedgey" Its offensive for us when you bag a 1k about its behind

 Re: 1000 Coupe
D's styling analysis and popular-appeal comments are right on. I had to chuckle about 1200 being "curvaceous" but maybe it is relative to a 1000.

Before D's comments, I was thinking the KB10 styling is better in a quirky way, while the KB110 is better in a traditional sense. I'm sure if you took a poll of a cross-section of the population the KB110 would win 10:1. But for those who would prefer a Stealth Fighter over an F16, the KB10 must be the choice. By comparison, a 1200 2-dr sedan could be the A10 Warthog of the automotive world. Maybe not the best looking, but the best for low-profile missions since it flies right under the radar of the local constabulary, would-be thiefs and frowning neighbors.

yes its the minimalist basicness of the 1000 that makes it special, and its not just the outside square lines, its the interior and dash, and the mechanicals and the ruggedness of the build. for example, any datsun 1000 ifu open the door and gently swing it shut will just click closded, no wear or sag to hinges after 35 yrs. they were built at Nissans truck plant in Sama to truck toughness.
Ive owned several 1000's but only one 1200 because it was too comfortable and well mannnered, compared to the kart-like 1000

 Re: 1000 Coupe
Ever since I first hopped in a 1000 coupe nearly 20 years ago I was smitten by its thoughtful design.

The hand brake and the way unique way it sits between the seats.

The dash exuding sporty appeal with its brushed aluminium finish and big round gauges.

Heavy chrome on the handles and around the factory tinted windows.

The beautiful stainless steel grille, I dont think Datsun ever bettered that.

Everything about it said someone really cared about its inception and put so much thought into its design.

I have had the 1200 coupe and the 1200 ute but they seemed to me more pedestrian and a little bit less special.

If you get another, then run the rear bumper. That fat arse look is just not attractive. Too much bland sheetmetal.

Yeah, I hate to be the one to break it to you but the 1000 coupe has it all over the 1200s in the looks department.

 Re: 1000 Coupe
it looks nice..but id rather a 1200 coupe, that big flat patch below the tail lights reminds me too much of a 1600s rear end, which is the main reason i dont like 1600's (that back empty space just pisses me off) even though with a bumper on this coupe it would take up some of the space but still..a big flat patch remains. so sad.
