A guy who worked at Tomei Racing in Japan built several tricked out motors and shipped them to the US. Upon his return he built this 1200 using the one engine and Les at Classic Datsun Motorsports has the other. This car is smokin 5.0s

If your talking about the big thing in the left front, thats the Oberg tattle tail oil filters.

The distributor is electonic. The brand Im sorry I don't recall. I'll check next time I'm at the garage.

That is the car you bought from Cel in San Diego?? I've worked on it a little when it had
charging system troubles.. How's it running now? My 1200 used to have dual side draft
Makuni carbs 10.5to 1 compression and a Nissan racing cam, It was damn fast and loud.
I had to pull that motor out for smog reasons and lost the carbies.. The Makuni's
looked just like webber carbies..We call it "Dual Non Electronic Fuel Induction"

Cel was the 3rd owner and did none of the work himself (and knew little of what was done to the car). Something blew on the motor, and Cel parked it for over a year until he found somebody to buy it.

The 2nd owner, Dave, had the car for less than two years before selling it to Cel. The motor originally ran 50mm carbies, but they were taken off in the attempt to make it more streetable. Didn't happen.

The 1st owner, Lance, did all the work. Lance works for Paxton superchargers in Gardena, CA. He sold the car because his coworkers always made fun of it, so I hear. If he had kept it, it was going to be supercharged.

Now that is a sad story. But I have the feeling the Webb will take care of this 'lil coupe.

Looks like an Accel brand coil. They cost twice as much but are a bit better.

The big thing in front is probably a capacitive-discharge (CD) high-energy ignition module.

And they said you couldn't put dual-sidedrafts in an LHD 1200! All it takes it a tilton pedal and master cylinder setup ...
