My Car and R-Fast's car in the line up in the last Huntly Hillclimb of the Year.  Great results had by all......I managed a 1st in class [Type3 0-1600cc] and R-Fast finshed with a 1st in class [Type4 0-1600cc].

Thanks goes to R-Fast [Jeff] for the nice new shiny drop tank.  increased capacity and baffled etc etc.  great workmanship.....  The car is handling really well at the moment.....

Benny

my coupe with the stock tank suffers from fuel surge on LH sweepers (has to be a long, high load corner) if its under half a tank.

Not a problem at some places, but at Morgan Park which has these kinds of corners, I have to watch it carefully and try to keep it just above 1/2 full for each run.

I agree that talk is cheap , but 31.12 on radials with a 1400cc motor isn't too bad. Come on out in Feb and inspire us to take your class record At least it will go to another datto
Cheers

Ahh 2 Dats are better than one they say! Thanks for the comments on the tank - always appreciated. Next run in Feb I am aiming for the class record --- some fiddling over Christmas and a big brave effort hopefully will see the other .4 sec that I need. Great day as always at Huntley and the VIP accommodation wasn't bad either . Dwayne says look out for the Gemini next meeting - he will have the bump strips mounted on the sides just in case that tyre wall jumps out again .
Cheers

stock tank doesnt have any baffling.......so during cornering, all of the fuel swishes from one side to the other......this can unsettle the car. The baffles restrict the fuel from moving around.
Another option is to foam fill the tank so that tank is like 1 big sponge.
The big benefits however are;
1. lower center of gravity [drop tank]
2. reduce the chance of fuel serge, as the fuel is locked in and the pickup is always fed fuel from the sump area of the tank.

I have posted some pics of the drop tank for my sunny sports sedan. These show construction of a typical tank and how it works.
