finally took shot of the b10 compatible diff.
Has bigger centre and drum brakes with diameter that appears to allow the finned alloy drums from a 240/260z in size.
length is the same as my 116cm b10 diff.
brackets all line up except the leaf ones havent checked them.

 Re: 67 s1 bluebird diff
Centre is approx 20cm in diameter and the height of the hat is 20cm.
Pity I cant pull out the b10 diff to show comparo shots. Just remember the pics show the diff upside down.
I also went to nissan and found the axle end bearings are the same as the b10 ones.
Why they used a bigger centre on the bluebird and not axles is a puzzle.
I know they also ran a twin carb sss model with an l series type 1600 engine and somewhere in ratdat history
section i was sure in reading that an lsd version was
vailable or could be used from something else

If anyone wants bigger pics (dodge?) just pm me your email as I couldnt post a bigger one.

 Re: 67 s1 bluebird diff
However does anyone know if the axles are the same on the h165?
This one is shorter than h165 ute diffs as its the same size as a b10.
The alloy hat is very light.
And even the hat could be used with the h165 carrier and centre if the axles are different from bluebird to 1200ute.
These drums are bigger than 1200 ute one as well so go figure.

This is the first model H165 diff. They are OK to use for up to about 120 hp but after that have trouble with bearing spread in the ally housing!

All alloy carrier H165's I have had are 23 spline 24 diameter, same as later H165's.

 Re: 67 s1 bluebird diff
I dont see how they could be weaker than a h145 diff. Mammie motors used to run an FJ20 with twin webers in a dat1000 with the h145 and locked it. Gerald told me they are pretty tuff as long as you dont do big burnouts but they busted one doing so the centre and just put in another centre as the axles where good. They never had such problem behind a worked a14/15.

The good thing is that its the same length as a 1000 and therefore the h165 centre helps but does the h165 on the 1200 utes have bigger axles???
Can you transplant later h165 for the stronger bearings into this alloy hat?

D, could you email me larger photos?

411 Bluebird came with:
* H165 for J13 engine cars
* H190 for R16 engine cars

Or is this from a 1967-built Bluebird wagon 510?
