Firstly i hate 202s because of there long stroke making them take for ever to rev out, and i already had this motor all worked and sitting next to the dato.

When i put this motor in every thing lined up spot on like it was made for the ute, i just had to remove some fire wall and floor first. I had to cut the front end off so i could just push the motor in there, and so i could fit the new radiator. The guard flexed b 4 i cut the radiator support off.

I built this Ute mainly so i would have all the power i could want to keep it sideways for a long time in the dry. and pluss its lots of fun wen you start it up and give it a rev and it feels like im in my Torana just with alot less room.

the blower seems to be mounted to the body... is the engine solid mounted to the chassis?

thats gonna cause some problems.... specially when going over bumps and hard acceleration.

Yeah the engine is solid, its just the ute is really flexable So i have to brace it to stop some flex.

I bet it does flex a bit without a radiator support

The 186 is probably the best motor that holden ever built. If he had used a 202, he would have been forever replacing number five piston.

I realise that you are also a holden fan, but for the effort you gone to, why not use a 265 instead??

Still, epic machine, looking forward to hearing what times she cuts.

My family have had alot of worked 202s and never had trouble with pistons. My uncle who is a mechanic says that 202 is not only the best because of the extra capacity but it is stronger. It has bigger journals and if you use the rods from the blue 202 you've got a very strong bottom end.

If he used a 265 it would probably tear the little 1000 in two with its torque.

I wonder how you are going to go with fuel pressure, as the standard mechanical pump will have problems under boost?
