Success at last. My second set of A12a rods, all virginal & unmolested this time. Three of the last set were race modified

The things we do....
This is a matched set of untouched A12a rods with their 75mm pistons still attached, so i know that the little end has not been honed for floating pins.
This is the set that i will use in my "improved" 1200GX engine.

Many thanks go to our club members Ddgonzal in Seattle, & Peter Zekert in Missouri. It wouldn't have happened without you.

These rods come from the base engine in the '79 to '82 [?] US model 210 [aka B310 - Sunny]

The USPS sticker on the box says $28.10
They were not cheap, particularly when you remember that i bought two sets to end up with one set that i could use, but a blown engine resulting from a busted, bored out rod is even more costly.

Not cheap, but they're cheap insurance.

Correct. USPS stickers /stamps are always in $US
The address label is stamped "ECONOMY" so i guess it came by boat. It is date stamped Dec. 30 - 04

One would naturally asume that, but I have shipped things over to here through USPS and payed by VISA and still only been charges the exact dollar amount written on the package sticker.
Thats why I was curious.
Like I said, still cheap, thought it would have been more

Will they be getting polished/shot peened etc?

Going by the varnish and other crap on the pistons, I'd say the motor they came from had done a turn or two.

The rods will undergo the standard prep, you know, Crack tested, X-ray'd, polish the beams [as per Datsun specs] checked for big end size & resized as necessary, then balanced. Just the usual stuff.
I will get new bolts also & have them crack tested too.

It wasn't Ddgonzal that supplied the rods, but he did help me find the bloke who could. It took about over 6 months between first enquiring & taking delivery of them. Taking a set of rods from an engine renders it unusable, so it is necessary to find either a scrap engine, or buy a whole engine & junk the rest. These are not real common engines at the best of times, so patience is a virtue.

Someone has already put their hand up for the other set, but i forget who. I thought he was in Brisbane, but nahh, what do i know.
Send me an e-mail & we can discuss it.

Where are you getting new bolts from?
I rang the local agents for ARP, and they didn't have a part no shown in their book.
They told me to Email Arp with all the dimentions, and see what they could do.

It would be good if DDgonzal could find another set.

If you're interested in the challenge please let me know.

Then again, do you still have the other set Dodgeman, as I was planning on getting them machined for full floating pins anyway

 Re: One small step [again]
Are they from the 1237cc A12a engine, or from the 1171cc A12 engine?
The A12a used a 75mm bore while the A12 [& the Datsun 1200 engine] used a 73mm bore.
