this is my new 1000 coupe, she's a bit rough and is a racer already so i'll be bringing her back to life! already has an a14 with twin SU's and a little half cage with a race seat and harness. it lives 2 kms from Phillip island racetrack :)

Cool, with the little coupe parked next to the 1200 you can really see the size differance between the two.

So with weight advantages over even the 1200 and more power in the pipeline it should be a real giant killer on the track.

nice looking little coupe
i reckon the 1000 coupes are so much better looking than 1200 coupes
usually look pretty sweet with no rear bumpers and all smoothed

(wonder how many bites that'll get )

I can't believe that car is still going! Me & my (now) brother in law built that car in the mid to late 90's for a bit of very cheap fun. Started of in autocrosses, then some sprints. Cage was made by Brown Davis and was by far the most expensive part of the car.
Still looks very similar, guages, seat, harness etc. as per when we had it - front dent wasn't there though! Original GX aircleaner has been changed for ram flo type cleaners.

Like most Datto's are capable of, this thing suprised a lot of people with lap times & positions in club events.

Have fun with it.

ha, what are the chances (not bad i guess on this website)!

i knew a bit of its history, a mate of mine stevo used to own it a while back then he sold it and bought the under 2lt sports sedan 1000 coupe.

what is the motor from? just a normal a14 or had some things done to the inside? also what are the front disks from? stevo told me that the car was CAMS logbooked but i couldn't find the history as i needed the name of the owner who had it logbooked or the logbook number... any help there?

Bottom end & box were from a wrecked 1200 coupe (stock). You should still be able to find evidence of the hole & cover plate in the tunnel to make room for the 1200 clutch arm. Head was oval port, from memory 37mm inlets & 30mm exhausts, no radical port job just a touch up behind the seats. Had a GX style twin outlet cast iron exhaust manifold into a 2" system. I did the brake conversion, can clearly remember callipers were from a JD Camira, actual rotors you've got me scratching my head - I tried about 6 or 7 different ones to get something that worked.
We got the logbook when we put the alloy cage in to record the date prior to alloy cages becomming unacceptable, that way it could still be used - we never had intentions of entering open race meetings.

I'm pretty sure the log book was in my offsider's name - can I contact you another way, it might be impolite of me to spray his name accross the internet (I'm an internet dummy!)

no worries, send me a PM (click the little PM button at the bottom of the post box) with your phone number and i'll give you a call. will be interesting to see if its still all your handiwork that is in the car, i think that the motor is now an A14, but the rest is very familiar, including those cover plates you spoke about!

cheers

Sorry, I didn't write that very well - the bottom end was a stock A14, but it was out of a wrecked 1200 coupe!
I'll give that "PM" thing a try.

SEE,... what have i been saying for ages. That unbiased opinion from a well respected 1200 owner has gotta be proof positive that the KB10 is the best looking Datsun ever made,.. honest, i wouldn't lie about a thing like that.
