This photo is reportedly of a genuine SSS. Do you see something non-genuine?

I asked Warren what horn button was used for the steering wheels, he said they used the horn button from 1600 SSS and I haven't seen that kind of horn button on a 1600/510?

 Re: 1200 SSS Interior
The factory sports sytering wheels in these years were a three spoke 'Y' shape while this is more of a 'T', which is a style that was adopted by the factory in later years, so i guess it could be fairly said that this design was ahead of its time, ummm,.. at the time.

Is it possible to get a better look at the tach? I am wondering if it is a 1200 coupe tach, which can be used with a fairly simple addition to the housing to mount it in the console. Or is it an aftermarket item?

These seats seem to have the head rests built in so i'm guessing that they are not original, ,,,,, but then again......... the 1200 SSS was not your ordinary 1200.

Hi Dodge - it was an aftermarket tach. Often a (cough cough) Smiths.

No GX dash, all the sss parts were added in New Zealand to standard 4 speed sedan shells.

I would have thought that the coupe was the natural base for a SSS upgrade.

The coupe tacho fits perfectly in the console and all mounting points are exact. In my old sedan I originally had the tacho there, untill I swapped it with the clock from the coupe dash.

 Re: 1200 SSS Interior
The production racing class the SSS was built for was for 4 door sedans hence the deluxe sedan was the base for the little beasty. The seats were locally modified with the integral headrest. The tachos were usually VDO but occasionally other brands seem to have been fitted due to supply problems. When these cars debuted there was supposed to be over 200 made but there were only two .......Datsun had to show they "intended" to build more
