It is all metal except for the black part at the tip which should be a rubber stop!

Tramp bars are very illegal for road use in NSW as they hang too low and catch on stuff like speed humps,potholes and small children. But on the other hand they work good when set up properly.

Stupid NSW road laws....

And they should make children bigger so they can't get caught under my car...

And just deflect off the bonnet like adults and pensioners...

I put slapper bars (tramp rods) on my car for a while. They worked ok.

I changed them for fixed rods, about the same radius, it worked better.

I was at a service station getting some petrol, and a guy came up to me looking really worried, and he told me that some suspension parts were falling off my car. I look ed over at my car, and them thanked him for his friendly advice. He must have seen the car go over the driveway diagonally to the curb, which would have made one of the slapper bars hang really low.

Other than good samaritans, slapper bars work ok, and I'm fairly certain that they are legal in NSW.

A nother way to stop axle hop is to drop the clutch harder and mash the pedal more

I was thinking of making a fake drop tank out of sheet metal to put around my fuel tank. I think it would look good but it would probably fill up with water or rattle or something knowing my luck.

Any ideas on why when I first got my car it never tramped and about 6 months afterwards it did?
Was it just my driving style change or something weakening or breaking in the suspension?

I had those bars in a Mazda 808 some time ago, those bars worked excelent, not only against spring warp, but also as sway bars,because they would prevent the lowering spring(outside one while cornering) from extending and flatening , not exactly the same as a sway bar, but it would stop the outside side (body) from sinking into the axle. I had them positioned so that the rubber bushing at the end would touch the spring all the time, just touch,rubber against the leaf,I had to cut a piece of the metal bar though, to have it fit (rubber up against leaf),but it was excelent,felt like a train on tracks, I have been thinking about doing it again. Something I did never understood is the following. I've seen some cars w/ these traction bars, and a bar (other extra bar) connects the rear of the traction bars, horizontally, parallel to the ground. Is this supposed to have a sway bar effect? The traction bars in the picture do not have an extra plate I've seen in US bars, at the very end, and it is there where the extra bar goes. Any thoughts?

i used to prefer hanging around bars and picking up slappers.

they look a bit short still and too much travel to lock into placestill.

I'm more a fan of Caltrek.... Currently have plans in motion to make my own setup.
Will have drawings etc available when I'm finished.
