Now who could resist a quick trip through the forrest trails with one of these in the garage. The picture came from a sales brochure, so it's gotta be the real thing.

This one has
Raised suspension
13" wheels
Black bonnet /hood
Black grille
Black bullet mirrors.
Fog lights
Rubber steps on the front bumper
Sports option steering wheel
Radio
Houndstooth interior trim. [Edit, it looks to be more of a Tartan pattern interior]

There is bound to be more, as there are a number of rally engine parts in my parts book, but these are not visible in this photo.
The wheels are likely to be 510 items as these are the factory recomended wheels for 1200 rally cars, & it was in production in '69.

Datsun 1000 rallycoupe,... you know you want one.

But the tartan style trim ..woowee. Style plus.

Would look good with a 70s Safari Suit.

I too thought it strange that there were no headrests as these were a standard option, as in, not even an accessory, just tick the box on the option list.

I didn't have a good look at the interior & incorectly called it "houndstooth", but it is in fact more in keeping with a tartan pattern, so i guess we can add yet another interior option to the list.

If the factory seatbelts are fitted, then they are lap belts only, yet the bodyshell has provision for an upper mount & all the Australian cars got the three point belts as standard.

I am totally loving this car, comes with the factory fire extinguisher I assume.

I would think you were correct with the houndstooth call,I will post a close up pick.

In the old days of kb10s with no headrests you just put on a neck brace and go for your life

it certainly isn't! if you were unkind enough, you could probably say it's no rallycar at all. although it was a different world back then - short sleeves and no helmets were the G-O for rally stars of the day

Hairy chested? Hell, i feel positively Neanderthal when i look at my coupe.

It's plainly a coupe for all of the people. The standard model for those on a budget & for competition, the DeLuxe for those with a sense of style, & the Grand Luxe for those with a sense of class, & all with an options & accessory list that reads like a volume of War & Peace. Who could possibly want for more.
It's no ordinary car.

Dodgeman, were you a salesman for Datsun back in 68, by any chance? Or did you miss your calling?

No, but my stepfather was in the period 1969 to about '73. He was half owner in a Datsun dealership in the Sydney area.

The 1200 has reached a cult status while the 1000 seems to have been overlooked.
It's been overlooked for too long in my view & after having been the owner /driver of an 'improved' 1000 since 1980, & knowing just how much fun they can be, i figured it's time that everyone knew just how wonderfull they are.

They have a lot going for them & you are starting to learn just what some of their features are. Great style, great potential, great scott,... you just realised you want one.

If i sound like a salesman, then i take it as a compliment. If i help a few members to enjoy a better life with a B10 in it, then my work here is done my son. Blessed be the B10. It's no ordinary car.

Oh yeah, this 'advertising campaign' is all about fun, so support your favorite ride & tell the world about its positive features.
