I had the right hand one pull of the chassis on my old coupe, hit a grassy bank at 80kph from a wet road, that sucked, just tacked it back on, dodge factory style, with as minimal welds as possible!!

Hammer it out straight and then cut along the crack with a grinder all the way through the metal. Then weld it up

so you reckon just cut through it the width of the cutting disk, then fill the gap with weld?

Just dont cut through the insert that the bush rests against, maybe look for another one, untack yours and tack new one on, easy as!

Yep, if the disk is 3mm thick, cut it 3mm. If the disk is 1mm, cut it 1mm.
If both pieces of metal are cracked. Cut through both. If a crack stops before the edge of the metal - drill the end of the crack to stop it continuing later.
Cut it with the grinder so the metal is clean and the weld is strong.

If whitesedan is talking about the cupped washer on the other side. I dont know why you would worry about trying not to cut through it if you going to repair it.
Would be easier to repair this than to weld on another bracket in the correct place.

thanks for the advice, it probably wont be done for a few weeks, but I'll put up an 'after' pic when its done. As you can see one of the seats has already come off, so I wont be worrying too mch about the other one.

The stocko reinforcing rings/washers are needed, otherwise it will just crack again.

old pic

It was on a 1200 ute, so not bolt-on.

 Re: broken castor/radius rod bracket
could I just hammer it out straight and run some weld down it, then grind it off smooth, or does the whole piece have to be replaced?

Hey - I just had mine fixed - except the whole piece where the rod goes through broke away and 'disappeared'

Got my panelbeater to do it though - I can't weld for $hit!
