Re: Minnesh Remember that it was 13.8 at the coast. Inland he runs something like high 14's low 15's. Tappet cover is from a 1400 Datsun pulsar. It is aluminium. I have gotten myself one yesterday from the wreckers. Apparently they reduce rocker noise at high rpm.

Re: Minnesh so was 13.85 downhill / downwind?
car must be superlight
oops have I stirred the pot again?
Look its not that I dont believe this...I really do want to believe, but I have seen my car and motor (very similar setup) against other sub 14 second cars and got eaten alive.

Re: Minnesh I have never seen a cast aluminium vanette rocker cover. Only ever seen pressed steel ones similar in design but no cast bolt holes or top ribs.. Looks cool though

Re: Minnesh chrome metal ones dont have threaded bolt holes in the top sides of them or ribs on top. Atleast the ones I have seen.
Edit: looks like you edited your post as i posted. It does indeed look to have differences

Re: Minnesh Seems I will have to come up again for a fellow South African.
As noted in a previous thread, the time was captured at a Speed and Sound festival by professional people. Speed and Sound is a magazine here in South Africa similar to MAX Power in Britain. They themselves have hot turbo cars that they use for drag racing.
Something that I think the non belivers are missing is that his comp is 13.5 : 1 It is not 10 : 1 or 10.5 : 1 This I believe can make a huge difference in power, but maybe not in reliability.
Minnesh Please post what cars you dragraced against on the 1/4 mile and you have beaten. I think this will give all non-believers an idea against what power you where racing.

Re: Minnesh Quote: wats the tank on the strut tower? As far as I remember they mentioned in the article something about a fuel reservoir for the carbs. Minnesh will be able to tell us in detail why.

Re: Minnesh I don't see the threaded hole... must have inferior video hardware The ribs make it look aluminum, but I think a Datsun emblem was added and some modifications were done to a chromed steel cover, just can't imagine why he didn't start with a regular shaped one as they look much better.

Re: Minnesh High 13's would be possible me thinks. Do any of the sydney boys remember AGR015 (Formula Blue 1200 Coupe)? From the old street racing days about 10 years ago, it had slips for high 13's. It was a stupidly expensive motor from memory, Mikinis and all.

I remember that car was soo sweet I remember it was running high 13's around 10-12 yrs ago same time as I had the 13B 1200 ute Im pretty sure it was at one of the first 4cyl and rota nationals. In the good old days. Cheers Andrew

Re: Minnesh Quote: Am I not the only person intrigued by the valve cover? Looks like a std late model A15 valve cover that has been chromed or polished. [Ithink from memory out of a vanette people mover] Benny

Re: Minnesh We're probably not going to get the engine specs, but can we see some dyno sheets?
With that 1/4 mile time, I'd like to know what diff ratio he's running.
