 Re: 63a Xmemba
B120dat do u need that speedo cable made up sooner than later ? Since your box is in now, if you can measure the length from speedo to gearbox speedo gear, then I can get the cables made up spot-on!
the 63a box looks like it fits well in the tunnel, but did you have to do much bashing to get it to site nicely ?
did the box mate nice & easily with your engine/clutch ?
the mount looks very reliable, well made.. makes me very unsure of the old 60a U shaped mount i was supposing to use..
thanks

Hey Evilsim.. Ummm i will get back to you on the speedo cable as i have to source a speedo drive that goes in my gearbox first, then if i have no luck up here with the cable i will get back to you, if thats ok..

I did no bashing to get the box in but you have to cut the gearbox mounts out in the tunnel, which involves grinding down the weld spots and then hammer and chisel (cut under the breaking welds you ground down), will stick some nice snug thin plates over where i cut slighty some parts of the tunnel. The box slipped in nicely after that heaps of room each side.

The box went up great on the motor no problems there the extractors are close but nuthing to bad.

I got the car running tonite and the the clutch is great no problems and it feels great the box drives FANTASTIC!! so smooth. I have pics of the 180b clutch clyinder i mounted if you want and of the linkage to my pedal.

Yes i would scrap the old 60a xmemba best to just do it strong and properly the first time.

Cheers

The cross members look nice and neat, but I would be uncomfortable with them being bolted through the floor pans.

There are thickish plates on the floor plans that the bolts go thorugh and they are stuck to the floor.

there is no problem with bolting to the floor pan, the box is rubber mounted and with exert near no torque on the floor...

This is basically what I did with my 60a box too, by removing the original mounts and mounting it to the floor. This way I was able to retain the reverse light switch.

 Re: 63a Xmemba
Used a really sturdy Xmemba because this box is slighty heavier and because the housing has been repaired once already. but this should hold the box really well! also is rubber mounted from my 60a box. also fixed my rooted rubber engine mount too hehe ...

Thanks to Sticks (Jim) for the help making this up and many other bits! Thanks mate much appreciated your a datsun Guru

Good stuff. Definately over engineered. That thing wont ever move. Unless the whole floor pan gives way. Oh yeah, stop teasing me by showing pics of the 63a. You must have beat me to it by minutes i reckon if its the one i think it is.

I used the same blue square tube on my CA18 g/b crossmember...

Great workshops must use the same materials

It's as over engineered as mine, but a certifying engineer or policeman wouldn't question it's strength.

Make sure a coat of nice black paint is applied to keep it in good condition.

 Re: 63a Xmemba
My mod plater made me take the gearbox Xmember all the way over to the chassis rails and then I had to whack a bolt through all that with some crush tubing. Using that blue tubing makes it look alot neater.

Looks good and strong.
There isn't any ground clearance problems is there?
Like when you go over speed bumps?

Also, as said, you should paint it black or silver.
Cos if a cop sees it they will think its dodgey.
Even though it looks alot stronger than the standard one.

New Cable...is anyone on this thread in the cable business?

Get a bluebird cable...$5 and it's 150mm longer than a 1200 one.

I know too much...

No problems with ground clearance, more problems there with exhaust as it hangs abit low.

Thanks dattodude will look into that longer cable from the bluebird!

cheers
