Re: Coupe with Stanza Grille Quote: just to let you all know i was the person that built that 1200 coupe with the stanza headlights way back in 1987 Funny, I was just thinkin this was a product of the 80's. We (us seasoned citizens) did some crazy things back then. Does anybody remember the AMG treatment?

Re: Coupe with Stanza Grille Square headlights were first fitted in the US to 1976 models. So by the time the 80s started, it was the "modern look". I'll state again that I like this coupe in the photo. This is one of the more outstanding ones, most look alike except for paint color and wheels.
What was the "AMG treatment"? Sortof a hotrod Mercedes look applied to a Ford Fairmont?
I remember when centerline solid wheels were all the rage ... looked cool but brakes overheated.
I've been thinking: flush headlights on a 1200. Flush came in 1986 (in the US) and nearly every model since 1987 has had them ... though now the look is clear lense.

Re: Coupe with Stanza Grille well g'day this is my first time here and just to let you all know i was the person that built that 1200 coupe with the stanza headlights way back in 1987 ,each to their own i suppose but just let me add this ever nut bolt panel part is datsun not one bit came from a diffrent make of car. and in it's day it was a head turner .the mods to it are way to many to list but there where conciderable hours involved lol P.S i must admit i have gone off the idea of square lights because they are hopeless at night ,oh and i am currently building a 1971 datsun 1200 sedan so i hope to keep you posted on it's progression

Re: Coupe with Stanza Grille gees try to refrain from picturing one big square on each side, you start to see similarities to a mk.2 escort as previously mentioned

Re: Coupe with Stanza Grille Well, I'm of two minds on this. I first thought "Hey! That looks really cool!" Then the picture finished loading and I had a longer look at it. I think it would work with rounds but the square lights just don't. More power to whoever did this though. I'd prefer to see stuff like this to another MFing wanker rotary 1200!

Re: Coupe with Stanza Grille I like it ... it's individual instead of so many cookie-cutter coupes. It does make it look like the '76 Ford Capri II though, especially with the coupe's fake side-air grilles removed. This is from Martin's site: http://martybugs.net/DatsunMods/body.cgi

Re: Coupe with Stanza Grille I agree it looks wrong. When I was younger, I so much wanted the dual headlight setup, like on 1600's. But after a while i got over it. And I now prefer the stock 1200 look. I guess this fella had similar ideas. Good luck to him for making it work, but I wouldn't go to the effort myself.
