front edge of the wheel arch was cut and re-rolled to give more clearance for the 15's and still has a nice neat lip to keep it looking orig

Thats a Ford front end with a droped axle. If that spring is on top of the axle, then it might be '32 But more likely a '33/'34

The 90 degree bend is important as it adds a bit strength to the guard. Stops it flexing. These things need all the hlp they can get.

Yes good one!

I need to do that on mine.
I'm considering getting factory guards and doing that to it.

I didn't have the time to do that to mine, and took the dodgy option of stretching it out of the way. I saw a yokohama brochure the other day 195/45/15s. Good for the front of a 1200. 50s are a touch too big even at perfect offset.

With your mods though, 195/50/15 will fit ok, if the offset of the wheels is right.

thanks steve
planning on this car being the last 'project' for a while (not sure how long a while is ??) i'm working on the theory of doing all the body stuff the right way the 1st time this way the running gear and wheels can always live happily in a secure home for a long while, or at least till i get the urge to upgrade them again

195/50/15's fit alot better now this is done although they still fouled on the inner guard a little (footwell) but thats been rectified with a little gentle persuasion
still reckon that 195/45/15's would be ideal ... might have to look into the yokohama's

I would just hit it with a hammer ... but here's a nice way to move the footwell a bit:

Same with my 1000 same with my 1000

I dont think anything is wrong with just cutting them. But visually that little lip is a nicer job

your's suit your purpose coup .... and could also take a finger off if you're not carefull
wasn't a dragster in the background, real big old thing though, weighed a heap, gave the panel guy a hand pushing it into the shop .... cant for the life of me remember what it was though
