Looks like a looong way to go yet Good luck with the project - I hear 1200's are heaps of fun with the L20. Hope I find out soon!
Cheers

Mines at this stage too, ive got clutch m/c sorted and radiator, just have engine/gearbox mounts now + tailshaft, trying to get engine as low in the car as possible, im playing around with different sumps, looking for a 4x4 720 sump.
At least wiring is pretty much the same!

 Re: L series fitting
this engine probably will never run in that car
i have the luxury of having 2 1200s, this one is full of rust, so it is the guinea pig, it gets the whole trans tunnel cut out so i can see how big the gearbox really is

ill be starting the search for a 4x4 720 sump soon, and also the gearbox

i modified the engine mounts on the engine a fair bit, now mount the engine 25mm lower and 30mm further forward than standard, had to mount it forward to get the engine mount stalks on the crossmember centred

then i found out that standard 180b engine mount things(ones that also bolt to engine) sit the engine at the same height as my modded ones

so basically im only using this car to make the crossmember in and figure out how to attack the trans tunnel

also i found that if you are going for an L18 the 720 block is the one to get, as it has multiple dipstick holes

but that there is just the dummy engine in the dummy car

and wiring is ####e easy, i rewired my 200b so that it had all switches(ignition, starter, thermo and lights) on the dash in about half a day, running all new wires and fuses

i still have till september till the car has to be ready, so im not in any great hurry to get it finished
