Good question ...

I think it is from Deluxe models too, but I've never seen a 1971 with it. Many 73s seem to have it, but I think I saw it on some 72s.

Looks very similar to the ones on Datsun 1000 Coupe boot-lids too...

The Pic of the Boot Handle came up in the random photos in the corner and prompted my memory. I was lucky enough to get one of these many years ago.

Nice pic!

Did it come with the spacer/spacers?

1973 catalog shows one large spacer, yet for same part number the early catalog shows three small spacers

19 84820-H1000 HANDLE-TRUNK SEDAN

Indeed. It's two spacers, one made of plastic and one made of a rubber type material that compresses to conform to the boot contour shape..

additional note is that the location holes are already in the frame section of the boot lid. All I had to do was drill through the boot lid skin.
