I hit the jump at about 100-120 kph, I wasn't looking the the speedo at the time but I was flatout in 3rd pulling about 8000rpm I have a photo of the car hitting the dirt, all was ok but it wasn't pretty

I did the same thing a few years ago and at those speeds its a pretty wild ride, you were a bit lucky to get away with it
When we landed we smashed the strut tops up into the bonnet and were lucky to finish the rally.
Makes for great pics though !
How did you go in the event, my mates travelled over to the west and were servicing for one of 4x4 teams and they said you looked to be enjoying the special stage

In heat one we broke an axel on the second last stage and had to retire, but in heat 2 we kicked but and finished 9th outright first P1 and first 2wd. it was a close fight with a Suzuki Swift GTI and a Honda Civic.

that's a great result! And for a P1 car to be fastest 2wd and in the top 10 outright is awesome! Nice avatar too

GREAT PHOTO!!

Bad luck about the axle but congrats for the heat two victory.

Do they use any of the WRC roads for this event, if so so what a buzz. I've been to two WRC events in perth ('91 and '04) and the roads from what I've seen are spectactular but challenging.

Any thoughts on why the axle broke?

 Re: In Flight Photo
The axels where new and untested we had just come out of 5 gravel stages and had a small sprint on a tarmac stage, hot sticky rally tyres,to many revs and a bit harsh on the clutch and bang..

Some of the stages are used for rally aus, but the next rally we go to the "Safari Rally" uses the famous Bunning's jumps. Now that's a buzz.

cool pic. You can almost visualise it as a horse jumping
