Unfortunately I had to mount it in the front bar due to the complete lack of room in the engine bay.

That look is very 'jap spec'

Couldnt you mount it inside the guard? or at an angle underneath the intercooler, or under the alternator mounted horizontal.

I agree though. There isn't any space, but mounting it up front ..oh man.. That's function over fashion for sure.

Dattodude - I spent several months trial fitting the core in different places but it was really the only option. I run a lot of castor so inside the guard was out, there is absolutely no room beside or behind the radiator and the custom swaybar prevents it from being mounted horizontally under the beaver panel.

I really would've preferred it hidden but it works and I'll take function over fashion everyday of the week.

little bit too exposed to damage for my liking. eg rock-strike, parking lot or shopping trolly damage. it doesn't bear thinking about...

I have thought about a stray rock puncturing the core. I just hope that if it happens I'll notice the oil pressure dropping and be able to shut it down in time. I have another car that I drive to work/the shops etc so I don't ever really leave my ute parked in shopping centres or the like. But it is a concern. I had a girlfriend several years ago who owned a convertible and twice some cretin put a knife through the soft top for no apparent reason. I'm sure an exposed oil cooler would be equally as tempting.
Are you heading out to Mt Cotton again any time soon? I'm hoping to have a run out there before my wife and I have our baby in October. I doubt I'll get much chance after that until next year.
