I did import some stuff a while ago directly from a company in Japan and had a look at an original lock set (80010-G1060) and they wanted about R4780 ($259) without shipping costs and I'd be heavily taxed at the border. Decided to ditch it and use the money for other parts of the rebuild.
I do really like the modern Nissan keys and they are way better than the plain aftermarket keys (haven't seen any Subaru ones yet so don't know about them) but I just find them too long. KEY00-00035 seems way shorter and wish they stuck with that length is all. 
Interestingly, that one from Thailand is the "pirate" lock set most spares shops here stock for the 1400 but none of the genuine keys are compatible with it. I recognise the logo on the keys, it's the same lock set that came with my bakkie and I still use that fuel lock and the key. I think they were about R500 (about $28) the last time I checked. $68 is robbery for the rest of the world when we get them so cheap here! Sorry guys!
The ignition I bought was not from a set and came with these plastic keys which are hideous. (It's also made in Thailand but by a different manufacturer). They are DAT12 keys so they are compatible with some original Nissan keys. Cost me R250 (about $14) for the ignition and then about the same to import and get an original key cut. Definitely worth it in my opinion. Finding aftermarket ignitions here is easy, a lot of spares shops keep them, it's finding originals that's nearly impossible.
Oh yeah, I should mention that all South African made 1400's used the 5-point ignitions with the steering lock so I think to swap one in without the ACC position would mean some rewiring would have to be done.
