I would have thought "cheap" & LSD were contradictions in terms.
If you use the Ute rear axle assembly, & the diff from a Bluebird or Stanza, you should have minimal problems. Two ways to reduce the loading on the rear end is to either pump the tyres up real hard, or use skinnier tyres. Both will produce more wheelspin & reduce diff losses.
There are other ways, but thats two of them.
