That is probably impossible, since Mercedes is a heavy car and Datsun 1200 is a light car. You could weight down the 1200, they do ride much smoother with 200 pounds of weight in the back. The prime factor in a smooth ride is the ratio between car weight and the unsprung weight of the suspension components. Secondarily is the suspension design.

But, to get closer to "smooth ride" like that, you would need Indepent Rear Suspension(IRS), and very light rear components. For example, the Datsun 510 (1600) does this to good results, but remember the 510 also weighs 25% more than a 1200.

More practically for a 1200, this means keeping the small H145 diff and using fibreglass monoleaf springs. So far no one has reported how well this works.
