hi, shop around for sure, when I got my datto painted I go quotes from $700 to $24,000, I also went to all the car shows ,spoke to alot of people with the same passion that we all have and learnt alot from listening to them. I ended up hearing about a really good apprentice in a workshop that is well known for quallity and said to them that I am in no hurry, if they want to work on my ride when they need to fill in abit of time here or there, go for it.
they did the job, took 6 months, put many tricks into it (eg. aviation style fuel filler etc) for under $2,500, and I was over the moon with the quality, even picked up afew awards.
so I guess what I am saying is, findout as much as you can about the workshops, there standards of workmanship, and if there likley to screw you over from carshows etc, work out if you would be happy to let your car be used by apprentices and workshop staff as a "fillerinera" between jobs for a cheaper rate.
I hope my silly ramblings may help, if not, atleast I got to brag about the deal I got. stick in there, I dont know what sort if job they are offering, but I'd think there would have to be a better deal for you, otherwise if your not to worried about getting your hands dirty, ive seen car bodywork and painting coarses at tafe, hmm ,
has anyone done one of these TAFE coarses? what sort of quality skills do you think the average guys could pick up with abit of determination?
I am now thinking of myself
