The standard GX valves spring won't float until 8100 RPM's and as the motor is non interference fit not to worry.
As for sustained RPM's back in 1985 we did a road trip with the coupe and for 2 1/2 hours it never went below 5000 RPM's and for 1/2 an hour of that it was at 6000 RPM's down a lonely stretch of desert highway. Basically if you drove around Bonneville Salt Flats in a giant 5 mile circle an A Series motor would likley run 20,000 miles nonstop at 6000 RPM's
Also as said a "rally" box is 1:1 top
