My VG30DE has NVCS - an early adaptation of Nissan variable valve timing. How does it compare to something similar? The closest information I have for that is also a comprison of VG30E to VG30DE (4v/cyl vs 2v/cyl) on this page: http://www.datsuns.com/Tech/ohv_vs_ohc.htm and specifically http://www.datsuns.com/Tech/sohc-vs-dohc-tq.gif A little more than half way down the page you'll see a dyno chart. Note that at every RPM the DE makes more torque, even though they both isplace 3.0L. How much of the spread is due to NVCS as opposed to just plain better flowing heads I do not know. Do notice the torque jump at 4250rpm - I bet the DE is changing cam timing right at the point, as it makes a jump right as the SHC engine is falling off. I hope this is useful in some fashion...
