Re: Race cam 1 with an automatic?

I tried that trick with the standard size converter worked on heaps , it ended up being a 3500 stally by a reputable firm. Needless to say it didn't work and when i spoke to the people that did it the information i got was this, because my car was so light (760Kgs) and diff gears so low (4.54:1 "Don't Ask !!!") and four cyls not producing much torque(compared to 6's or 8's) that it was very difficult to get it to stall up properly.(it wanted to go as soon as you put it in drive). I was running about a 35/75 cam at the time and it just took forever to get going but the shifts where fantastic. The only choice i had then was to go smaller in the converter size to make a better stally (or one that would work) but the only choice was a worked toyota item adapted to the Datsun = $650. So the manual went back in !!!! Well for the moment anyway. . Have a look at my profile for details of the rest of the car.Later.
