Thanks. Got it, chamfer for a butt-weld.
* Shorten the axle tubes and weld them * Get new custom-length axles ($800/pair) * Drill the axles for the desired wheel bolt pattern * new bearings for the new axles * Cut and reweld (or add) spring plates
