The question is not about wet vs dry head, it's about running a hotspot vs no hotspot. HP drops at low airflow, and runs less smoothly, if the engine has no hotspot as sikyne recently found
There are two common methods:
* Dry manifold with Heat Riser
* Water-heated inlet manifold
The choice of which to use is determined by the inlet manifold -- it either bolts to the exhaust manifold, or if has provision for water ducting
Some racers run without hotspot. Works OK as they normally only run full-throttle
