what type of paint did you use 2K or acrylic?
Did you put a clear coat on it? If so it will need a colour sand, then cut and polish. As below fine grit paper first (Wet sand - 2000grit about right, make sure it is done wet though). Don't rub through the clear coat (if you do you will see the sand paper turn the base colour (clearcoat sands white), this is bad). After you wet sand then use a cut and polish.
I used (Acrylic paint) Autoglem 04B for the cut and super resin polish to finish. I did this with a buffing wheel (Big arse angle grinder with a polishing pad, variable speed, you need to keep the heat down so pretty slow speed). Be careful with the buffing wheel it cuts quickly. Be super carful on panel edges and any large change in contour it will catch (Taping the edges to stop this is sometimes a good idea).
