Re: Stiffer Engine Mounts

The main reason the engine mounts fail is because the engine and the front cross member are wrenching away with apposing forces and the rubber part of the engine mount where the rubber is adhered to the stud mounted plate fails .
If you drill a 8mm hole 15mm up from the normal mounting stud thru the engine mount bracket, thru the engine rubber mount then thru the cross member mount(parallel to the rubber engine mount stud)then put a grade 8 or higher threaded stud into the newly made hole and double nut both ends with 3mm clearance so the stud has a small amount of clearance to float.
This will all allow the compression of the rubber mount to function normally and when the engine lurches away from the compressed state it will be restricted by the floating stud.
The appearance will be almost normal but your engine mounts will last a lot longer.
